God alone converts people to faith, but it is our responsibility to make disciples. In his great commission, Jesus commands us to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations...” (Mathew 28:19). Jesus was an evangelist and we see in his teaching with woman at the Well (John 4), Zacheus, the Tax Collector (Luke 19), woman who had been caught in adultery (John 8) and his teaching to Nicodemus (John 3), etc. This is a challenge, yet courageous opportunity to step out to serve God and one another. Director of Finance/Treasurer Stewardship: (Giving): God is the source of all blessings. As a Church, we are obligated to serve God with our resources. We serve God with our talents, time and money. There is no better way to say it than scripture, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). God loves cheerful giving and those treasures would advance His Kingdom. This is a commanded and is very important because this helps the church cater services deem for the Kingdom. This is where evangelistic outreach and mission acquire support in regard for the purpose of propagation of the gospel as our Lord told us in his great commission.
The tithes specifies as 10% of individual produce or income … “A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord” (Leviticus 27:30). The word of God says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it” (Malachi 3:10). The reasons ten percent is given is to show our obedience and faithfulness to God. God want our faithfulness and he would take care of everything that we want to do with money.
It is advisable to pray before you make your decision to give pledge. A tithe is not afterthought, but a forethought. This command shows our faithfulness and act of worship to God. Most outreach activities for the church get support through your substantial giving. Moreover, participate in fundraiser events to help us reach out for Christ. Finance/treasurer will properly keep the books of the accounts of the church and submit annual report according to IRS legal requirements and for church records. The assistant will work according to principles mentioned above.
